At Evergrow, we’ve spent years trialling, testing and growing on our Inverell demonstration farm to create a system that makes it easier for people to grow food, no matter their experience or space.
That system is called Componics, (short for compost-based hydroponics). It’s the method we use on the farm, and it’s what VERTI-POTS™ are built to support.
Unlike traditional hydroponics that rely on synthetic nutrients and sterile media, Componics works with living soil. It combines vertical growing, smart watering, compost and worm farms to create a natural cycle that supports healthier plants and better yields, all while reducing waste.

A Healthy Growing Medium
Instead of sterile potting mix or synthetic hydroponic setups, Componics starts with a rich, living soil. We use a blend of compost, coir, worm castings and other organic matter to create a base that feeds plants naturally. This medium holds moisture, drains well, and is packed with microbial life. It gives your plants everything they need to build strong roots and grow with resilience.

Gentle, Consistent Feeding
Rather than flooding your plants with synthetic fertilisers, the Componics approach nourishes them gradually with organic feeds. Seaweed or kelp extract supports early root development, worm or compost tea boosts microbial activity, and diluted fish emulsion encourages flowering and fruiting. These natural inputs are applied every 1-2 weeks, topping up the nutrients already present in your compost-rich soil. -
Microbial Support
A thriving garden relies on a thriving microbial community. That’s why Componics includes regular additions of worm castings and compost tea to keep your soil biologically active. These simple, natural boosters help break down nutrients, protect roots and support the overall health of your system. Origins: VERTI-POTS™ were developed at our Research and Development as well as Demonstration farm at Little Plain outside Inverell NSW. Over many years Evergrow Farm has been passionate about carefully putting together all the ingredients necessary to maintain a sustainable food production model we’ve named COMPONICS™.
An important component of this model has been the development of our VERTI-POTS™ vertical growing towers. These were primarily designed for people to successfully grow a wide range of vegetables, herbs and flowers with minimal input and maximal production. Especially enabling those with limited space or expertise to succeed.
